Summer sessions are in full swing! April just turned 50 and decided to treat herself to a boudoir session! I know what you’re thinking- there’s no way this insanely beautiful woman is 50 years old. Not only is she absolutely stunning, she has the personality to match. I was so excited to work with her and even more excited to show her the finished result! Check out some of our faves below!

Why Andrea King Photography?

I saw this amazing lady that was very inspiring in all her posts about lifting women up and thought she is the one. 

Why Boudoir Photography?

My mother and sister both have done this, so I figured why not.

What made you take the jump to invest in yourself?

I have never had any self esteem. When my husband left me I really had issues. I have spent the past year relearning that I am not the problem and I decided that with my 50th birthday I would celebrate the birth of the new me. 

How did you feel before the session vs after it wrapped?

I was nervous but excited before. Andrea has a way of making you feel so comfortable in your own skin. By the end we were both laughing so much it was hard to keep a serious face. 

What was your reaction to your images during your reveal?

OMG. They were all so amazing. She is a true artist. I cannot believe how she captured me looking so amazingly sexy. 

If you could say one thing to the women who are too scared to book a boudoir experience what would it be?

Every woman deserves to be a queen. This experience gives you that kind of treatment. It was worth every penny spent.

One of my clients reminded me of how good booking a shoot can be for your mental health. I’m not talking about seeing the final result, I’m talking about the process we go through leading up to the shoot. Getting your hair done, getting your nails done, or getting a bikini wax can simply transform your mood and make you feel like a woman again. It’s a simple indulgence in self care that we overlook because most of the time our focus is on the shoot as well. I know that in my every day life I wear a messy bun and gym shorts almost every day. You can’t pour from an empty cup so make sure you’re doing something to refill yours. 💕

I generally disappear from all aspects of life during this time of year. I’d rather be floating in the ocean and spending time with my boys than staring at my screen. But I feel like I still need to say this- ladies- put on your bathing suit and participate in life. Go swim in the ocean, lay out by the pool, take your littles to the splash pad. Stop tugging and hiding because you are worried what people think about you in a bathing suit. In 10 years your people will not remember what your hair was like, what type of bathing suit you had on, or what the number on the scale was. They are going to remember the laughter, the joy, and fun that you had together. You’re going to miss making memories with the people who love you just the way you are because you’re worried about people who you don’t even know. So just stop it. Put on your swimsuit and have fun, go running as fast as you can into those waves. Life is too short to do anything but that. 🫶🏻
