Brittany’s Boudoir Session | Jacksonville, NC Boudoir Photographer | Boudoir Photography

The first weekend of March I traveled back to my old stomping grounds in Memphis, TN to shoot Brittany’s session. She wanted to surprise her husband with them for their first anniversary. Her husband is one lucky man! We shot at The Holiday Inn Express in Bartlett and I even got to work with my girl Stephanie again!

Why Andrea King Photography?

A friend of my sister had gone through her and sent me her pictures, and I was immediately impressed with the quality, it was exactly the style of shoot I was looking for.  


Why Boudoir Photography? What made you decide to invest in yourself?

I’ve always wanted to do a boudoir session, my one year anniversary is coming up, so I thought this would be a great gift idea for home and good excuse for me to finally do it! 


How did you feel before the session vs after?

I was excited going into it and a little nervous.  Andrea had put me at ease prior to the session though because she had a closet I was going to choose from. And said she would have all of the poses for me so I didn’t need to worry about any of that going into it.  She made it so fun from start to finish.  She would show sneak peaks of some of the shots she was getting, so that made me excited to see the finished product afterwards!

Any advice for women who are too scared to book a boudoir experience?


This was such a fun experience, every woman should do at least once in their lifetime.

One of my clients reminded me of how good booking a shoot can be for your mental health. I’m not talking about seeing the final result, I’m talking about the process we go through leading up to the shoot. Getting your hair done, getting your nails done, or getting a bikini wax can simply transform your mood and make you feel like a woman again. It’s a simple indulgence in self care that we overlook because most of the time our focus is on the shoot as well. I know that in my every day life I wear a messy bun and gym shorts almost every day. You can’t pour from an empty cup so make sure you’re doing something to refill yours. 💕

I generally disappear from all aspects of life during this time of year. I’d rather be floating in the ocean and spending time with my boys than staring at my screen. But I feel like I still need to say this- ladies- put on your bathing suit and participate in life. Go swim in the ocean, lay out by the pool, take your littles to the splash pad. Stop tugging and hiding because you are worried what people think about you in a bathing suit. In 10 years your people will not remember what your hair was like, what type of bathing suit you had on, or what the number on the scale was. They are going to remember the laughter, the joy, and fun that you had together. You’re going to miss making memories with the people who love you just the way you are because you’re worried about people who you don’t even know. So just stop it. Put on your swimsuit and have fun, go running as fast as you can into those waves. Life is too short to do anything but that. 🫶🏻

Be too much, say the quiet part out loud. Don’t worry about what other people think about you. Your people will find you because your spark will radiate through the darkest and quietest corners. Love yourself unapologetically, you will never be the version of yourself that you are in this moment.
