Memphis, Tennessee Botanical Gardens Wedding | Johnson

On a very hot 25th of July I photographed a wedding at the Memphis Botanical Gardens for Tori Lewis and Luke Johnson.

The Couple

Luke’s in the Navy and currently stationed in Virginia, Tori is enrolled in school here in Memphis. Luke was on planned leave for two weeks before he had to ship out on a sub for several months. He came home to marry his sweetheart, Tori, in a beautiful ceremony at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. From there they honeymooned and then Luke immediately left on duty. The first time I met both of them I seriously wanted to say “awww” at how cute they were. Luke was such a gentleman, and Tori was a very blushing bride. She had jitters on her wedding day, but managed the heat and nerves with the help of her family and her bridesmaids.

Wedding Day

Tori decided on doing a first look with formal photos before the ceremony and an immediate commute to the reception following. We were pressed for time but managed to get everything in. She paired her dress with some Vans sneakers (I totally fell in love with her at that moment! I seriously love brides who think outside the box and aren’t afraid to absolutely be themselves and comfortable on their big day!) And her wedding gown was this insane princess style ball gown from Lowe’s in Arkansas, and I thought the sneakers gave it such an edge!

The reception was small and intimate, held at Just for Lunch off Poplar Ave in Memphis. There was a first dance, father daughter dance, mother son dance, cake cutting, and tons of laughter. All in all it was such a sweet day with two wonderful people. Best of luck you two, Luke thank you for your service and stay safe!!
